Mathieulh has released PSGroove: an open-source reimplementation of the psjailbreak exploit for AT90USB and related microcontrollers.

Its a do-it-yourself hack for your PS3. With a Teensy (or compatible microcontroler) and his code, you can run unsigned code on your PS3.

More than this, he has confirmed that this code can be ported to PSP and other systems, so we should be able to hack our PS3 with other devices.

[PS3 News] PSJailbreak clones arrived!! by Xino

The creators of the PS Jailbrak warned us about imitations. They recommend us to purchase the original product to get support and warranty. They were aware that clones would soon appear, and here we have. One is the X3 Jailbreak, initially suspected to be fake, another is PS3Key (by creators of WiiKey) and PS3Stinger (this one not confirmed yet).

Certainly the cause of clones is the publication of the code that injects the PS Jailbreak in PS3. At first, people speculated that this device was a copy of one used by $ony's SAT, which have been stolen or purchased from employees, but after the first analysis, for sure is using an exploit in the operation of the USB port, so it would not use copyrighted stuff from $ony.

Meanwhile PSJailBreak people has already announced an upgrade of Backup Manager (homebrew used to dump games into hard disk), with new features. Could be NTFS support for externals HD?

[PS3 News] PS3 Jailbreak by Xino

PSJailbreak is a plug and play USB modchip which allow owners of any version* of PS3 to run backups of PS3 games as well as homebrew applications.

The device bypass PS3 security so you´ll be able to install Backup Manager app in your PS3 and backup any game into the HD drive (or external FAT32 drive**) and then play it. BR movies or previous generation Playstation games are not supported yet.

*Fat or Slim but at the moment only firm 3.41 is supported.
**There ia a limitation of 4 Gb so some transfers may be fail.
